Hoarding Cleanup in Eagle
Sensitive hoarding situation cleanup for Eagle families.
Delivering fresh starts since 2022
Eagle's hoarding cleanouts tend to involve more square footage than the rest of the valley, not less. Custom homes in neighborhoods like Two Rivers and Banbury Meadows often carry finished basements, bonus rooms, and three-car garages, and on acreage north of Beacon Light you're often looking at a shop or barn on top of the house itself. More rooms means more to sort before a single box gets carried out.
That scale changes how a job gets planned. The walk-through has to account for every structure on the lot, not just the house, and the plan for getting items out has to work with Eagle's driveways, gates, and HOA rules instead of around them.
Getting a Crew Onto the Property
Long driveways and gated entries are common on Eagle acreage, and a crew needs clear access before trucks and trailers show up. If a gate code or remote is required, that gets arranged ahead of time rather than figured out curbside.
Neighborhoods like Lexington Hills and Banbury Meadows may have HOA guidelines around parking a truck or trailer on the street or in a driveway for an extended stretch, so it's worth checking your HOA's rules before a crew arrives. On horse properties and larger lots, a secondary access point through a shop or barn can save a lot of back-and-forth through the house.
Garages are their own project in Eagle. A three-car garage that's become a storage unit needs to be cleared enough to actually open a bay door, and two-story homes mean stairs are part of the hauling plan from the start.
What Tends to Turn Up
Given how many of Eagle's homes are larger, newer custom builds, what we sort through often includes higher-end furniture, appliances, and finishes that are worth a second look before they're hauled off. Horse properties and acreage add their own category: tack, fencing material, feed equipment, and outbuilding contents that don't fit a typical room-by-room sort.
The goal is always to separate what still has life in it from what doesn't. Furniture and household goods in decent shape can go to donation. Clean wood, scrap metal, and e-waste have their own recycling paths at the Ada County Landfill's Hidden Hollow site. Mattresses and Freon-containing appliances are accepted there too, each handled a little differently, and household chemicals and paint can go through the landfill's hazardous waste days or Eagle's own quarterly collection at the West Eagle Park & Ride.
- Donate: furniture, housewares, and clothing still in usable shape
- Recycle: clean wood, scrap metal, and electronics
- Landfill with a fee: mattresses, tires, and Freon-containing appliances
- Hazardous waste: paint, chemicals, and solvents, dropped at a scheduled collection day
- Trash: anything left over that isn't salvageable or recyclable
Permits and Local Rules to Know
Most hoarding cleanouts don't touch the structure itself, so no permit is needed just to clear a home out. That changes if the job involves removing part of a structure, like a damaged outbuilding or an addition that's being torn off — the City of Eagle's Building Division requires a permit for demolition of any residential or commercial structure, and that's the homeowner's responsibility to pull.
If a dumpster needs to sit in the street rather than on the property, Eagle's public roads fall under Ada County Highway District right-of-way, and ACHD requires its own permit for a container placed in the roadway, sidewalk, or shoulder.
Burning debris on-site isn't a free option either. Eagle Fire allows burning only on clear-air days and keeps piles small, and construction debris, treated wood, and tires are illegal to burn outright — another reason most of what comes out of a cleanout is hauled, not burned.
Eagle's bigger lots and larger homes mean more planning up front, but with the right access worked out and the right disposal path for each category, a hoarding cleanup here isn't any more complicated than it needs to be.
